Position:            Mechanic

Location:           Westhope or Lignite, ND

Responsibilities for the Mechanic:

  • Servicing and upkeep of all equipment
  • Performing diagnosis for problems on various types of oil well service equipment based on reports from the field and interpreting the results
  • Performing required repairs based on troubleshooting mechanical equipment
  • Training on the job for diesel engines on company truck fleet
  • Performing routine scheduled maintenance work including overhauling engines and transmissions
  • Repairing and maintaining machinery and mechanical equipment, such as motors, pumps, belts, fans, air conditioners, etc.
  • Disassembling machines and repairing or replacing broken parts, as well as cleaning and lubricating parts
  • Adjusting functional parts of mechanical devices as necessary
  • Performing preventive maintenance inspection
  • Working in the shop or in the field, depending on assignment or location
  • Training on the job with respect to rig operation and company rig operating procedures
  • Receiving specialized training on the subject of Hazard conditions
  • Clean and maintain work area
  • Maintain and secure work tools and vehicles
  • Attending monthly safety meetings
  • Following all guidelines and policies set by Basin Service and our customers
  • Complying with all Safety policies/regulations and DOT regulations
  • Other Duties may be assigned

Preferred Experience and Skills for the Mechanic:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Certification from trade or technical school in maintenance or repair
  • Three (3) or more years of work experience as a mechanic or in a similar capacity
  • Skill in repairing heavy industrial trucks
  • Ability with Certification to perform DOT annual inspections
  • Knowledge and skills in well service equipment/vehicle repair or preventive maintenance
  • Skill in rebuilding, inspecting and repairing equipment including hydraulic, electrical and over hauling engines and transmissions
  • Ability to work in a variety of positions, some which may be awkward and tiring, to accomplish repairs
  • Ability to handle heavy items and work in extreme weather and physical conditions.
  • Ability to follow instructions/directions
  • Ability to work independently while demonstrating safe work habits
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work well with others in a team environment while demonstrating safe work habits
  • Knowledge of principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment related to work activities
  • Ability to understand and abide by all DOT rules and regulations

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Valid Class D license or valid Class A or B CDL driver’s license with a clean MVR (depending on the vehicle required to drive on the job)
  • OSHA 10 hour certification
